Breakfast
Let's just say today didn't get off to a very good start. In other words, I slept through both of my alarms, so I had to take Zeke down for a pee, get dressed, get my school stuff together, throw my hair up and run to the last bus coming by my apartment that would get me to school on time...all in less than 10 minutes. Say what!? That's right folks, I'm a freaking magician!
That meant, I didn't have any breakfast before class. I ended up going to Tim Horton's while on break and bought a low fat triple berry muffin, a banana, and an orange pekoe tea with one Splenda. Note the lack of protein in this meal. This will arise later on.
Lunch
I was craving protein by the time my class was finished. I ended up making incredible homemade hamburgers from scratch!
Cheesy Hamburgers
-2lbs lean ground beef
-1 cup low fat bread crumbs
-1 whole egg
-1/2 red onion, chopped
-2 tbsp soy sauce
-Sliced mozzarella or cheddar cheese
Use your hands to combine ground beef, low fat bread crumbs, whole egg, soy sauce, and chopped red onion in a large mixing bowl until mixed thoroughly. Shape two very thin patty out of the ground beef mixture with your hands. Lightly press desired amount of cheese into the centre of one patty. Leave at least 1/2 inch of patty around all sides of the cheese. Put the second thin patty on top and press edges together to make one cheese-filled hamburger patty. Continue until all of the ground beef is used up. Cook on the barbeque, George Foreman grill, or frying pan until cooked all the way through. Cheese may not always be visible in the centre of the patty; however, the patties will be very moist and cheese-flavoured nonetheless. Enjoy!
I also had a big side of brussel sprouts along with my cheesy hamburger!
Workout
As the afternoon wore on, I ended up doing more than my fair share of snacking. I think my hunger today and yesterday was a direct result of a lack of protein at breakfast. If I don't get in enough protein at beakfast, I'm ravenous for the rest of the day!
Luckily, I had a chance to go to the gym and burn away some of those extra calories. I did a 20 minute HIIT cardio workout on the elliptical machine before doing some strength training focussing on biceps, shoulders and abs. I also finished up with 15 minutes of stretching. It felt awesome!
Dinner
After the gym, I headed straight to work. I stopped at the grocery store to pick up something light for dinner and ended up getting a Vega Whole Food Energy Bar and an apple. The apple was as good as expected, but the Vega bar was terrible! I was expecting so much from this mighty little bar, but it tasted so bad. I could barely finish it even with my nose plugged. I forced it down just to reap the nutritional benefits that it contained. I wish it tasted better because it looks amazing in theory!
After work and a very foggy drive home, I got straight into my PJ's to watch some TV and snack some more. I feel like I'm going crazy because my appetite is endless. Hopefully adding tons of protein to my breakfast tomorrow will fix this little problem!
Have a great night!
