Rock Me Like a Hurricane

I know, I know...that was a terrible title! However, it has been playing in my head ever since I first heard about Hurricane Sandy. It looks like the tail end is about to hit us. I have flashlights and candles at the ready, although I'm not sure much is actually going to hit us. (Knock on wood!)

Is anyone else being affected by Hurricane Sandy? My deepest condolences go out to anyone who's lives were changed due to the hurricane's devestating effects.

Breakfast

I was excited to try a new type of cinnamon raisin bread this morning for breakfast. I picked up a loaf of Thomas Raisin Cinnamon bread that was on sale at the grocery store this weekend. It looked pretty good, so I was ready to give it a try!

I toasted up two pieces and ate them with margarine on top. They turned out delicious! They were a little less cinnamon-y and raisin-y than I had hoped for, but the quality of the bread was amazing. I also had a little container of BioBest Omega-3 raspberry yogurt on the side.

Morning Snack

I made sure to pack a good snack with me this morning so I wouldn't be too hungry by the time I got to lunch. I munched on an empire apple and some mozzarella cheese slices as I worked away in class. I don't know if anyone noticed me taking pictures of my food in the middle of class, but they probably through I was crazy if they did!

Lunch

I brought a delicious lunch with me to school today and I couldn't wait to give it a try! I brought the last of Casey's hearty chili and made a gigiantic veggie-filled salad to go along with it.

The salad was okay, but the dressing wasn't as good as I had hoped. I picked up a bottle of Renee's Sweet Onion dressing after eating the salad I had raved about from Subway, but this dressing was nothing like the one from Subway. It was sour, bitter and overall just blah! I was really disappointed because I was hoping for a sweet vinaigrette...and because I had paid over $5 for a small bottle!

The chili more than made up for my disappointing salad, plus I had a small container of Jell-O afterwards which went unphotographed!

Dinner

By the time I got home, I wasn't feeling like making much of a dinner. Casey and I made homemade mini pizzas using small whole wheat tortilla wraps. I made two mini pizzas with a very light sprinkling of mozzarella cheese and plenty of onions and hot peppers on top.

Evening Snack

After dinner, I spent the evening plugging away at yet another paper I have due soon and making some berry cornbread. I used a box of PC Organic Cornbread mix and followed the instructions exactly, but added in about half a cup of frozen mixed berries before baking.

The bread turned out delicious! The berries gave it a little added tang that complimented the sweet cornbread perfectly. I had two slices as an evening snack before calling it quite. Delicious!

I am spending the rest of my night finishing up a paper and hoping the power doesn't go out. It's been flickering on and off since I started blogging, but has calmed down a little bit recently.

I'm prepared with my laptop, my blanket, some candles, and a flashlight incase it does go out!

I hope you all have a safe and relatively uneventful night! Now it's time for me to catch some zzz's!

Oh, and no workout for today. I was at school from 9:30am to 6:00pm and since I had to finish a paper, I didn't have any time to put in a good workout today. Perhaps tomorrow, but I'm not going to stress about it! Stressing about getting in a workout is counterintuitive and just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'll have plenty of time in the future to fit in the long, intense workouts I used to do!
