Summertime Hacking

There's nothing like spending a Saturday morning hacking with your favourite horse and favourite people! Ginnybean was just as excited as I was to go off property for our hack.

We got all tacked up and we were on our way!

We ended up hacking through corn fields, bean fields, alongside creeks, and through forests. Our hack lasted over an hour and a half. I'm not even sure how much distance we covered before heading back home. We had a great time and the horses loved the change of scenery! They were all incredibly well-behaved and we all had a very enjoyable hack.

When we got back from our hack, I was starved to the max! I hadn't eaten breakfast since 8:30am and it was closing in on 3:00pm. Yikes! Luckily, I did some grocery shopping last night and picked up a Dole Southwest Salad Kit.

I ended up eating the entire thing minus the cheese mix. I also only used about half of the tortilla chips and only three quarters of the dressing. It was delicious!

After eating my salad, Casey reminded me that we had planned on eating tacos for dinner. Oops! Looks like I would be having a very Southwest day of eating!

I made myself a taco salad using lettuce, diced tomato, lean ground chicken, cheddar cheese, salsa, and refried beans.

I ended up eating about half of this salad before calling it quits. I wasn't feeling super hungry after such a big lunch. I also ate all of my refried beans instead of the majority of the ground chicken in my salad. The beans tasted better and I preferred the plant-source of protein instead.

As you probably assumed, we didn't end up going to Pawlooza today. Our hack went too long and we were happy to relax for the day instead. However, Casey and I are going to see The Bourne Legacy tonight instead! I'm super excited to see this movie and I hope it lives up to my expectations.

Yum that salad does look incredible! I have actually never ridden a horse before.
