Car Troubles

Good morning!

I'll bet you're wondering where the heck I went yesterday? Well, it's kind of a long story, but I'll tell you anyway.

I got a text from Casey while I was at work yesterday saying he thinks he locked our one and only car key (another long story involving expensive chip keys and us having no money to have a second key cut) in the car because he can't find it anywhere. Since he was supposed to be picking me up from work, he said he would bike to my work to get the car remote from me (fortunately we had the key and the remote separate).

I didn't think anything of it, until I was finished my shift and met up with Casey. What if he took the remote and biked back home only to realize he'd lost the keys entirely? We both agreed that it would be best to just walk back home together to save me having to walk home alone if he couldn't find the key once he biked back home.

The only problem is that we live about 7k from my work, I had on my work clothes and had my big purse on me, and I was STARVING! No matter, we walked the 7k home together and even stopped at Subway so I could eat a super late 9:30pm dinner.

I ordered a 6-inch sweet onion chicken teriyaki sub on whole wheat bread and loaded it up with veggies. I also bought two white chocolate macadamia nut cookies--one for me and one for Casey--and a fountain Diet Coke that Casey practically finished on his own.

It took us just over and hour and a half to walk home, including our stop at Subway. When we got back, we realized that the key was no where to be found. Since it was so late and we were both exhausted, we decided to deal with it in the morning.

This morning rolls around and we realized we had to take our car into the dealer in order to have our car reprogrammed to accept a new chip key before having two new chip keys made. Unfortunately, that meant calling a tow truck to tow our car two blocks to the dealership. Luckily, it's just around the corner!

We sat and waited for the tow truck to arrive.

We finally had our car towed by a really nice driver, had everything arranged at the dealership, and were on our merry way.

The dealer said it would be a few hours to have the keys made, so we decided to hop on over to McDonald's to breakfast. It was really the only restaurant in sight and we have no food in our kitchen.

I ordered a Strawberry Vanilla Slim Sensations muffin and a medium orange pekoe tea with one milk and one sugar. It wasn't too bad!

Now, we're finally back at home waiting for the dealership to give us a call to tell us our keys are ready and we can come pick up our car.

We have plans to go on a mini camping trip this weekend and as of right now, it looks like this little hiccup will only cause a delay in our plays. As of right now, I think we'll still make it camping! We won't have any internet at the campsite, so this will be my last blog post for the weekend. I'll be sure to take plenty of photos to share with you late Sunday night.

Wish us luck with our car and hopefully we will be on the road to our campsite within the next few hours!

Questions:
Have you ever experienced car troubles?
Have you ever lost your keys or locked them in your car?
What did you end up doing?
