I guess I forgot to mention this little tidbit of exciting news in my last post...
I have entered my first official running race! I'm not an avid runner and I'm not a natural by any means, but I have decided to finally enter a race for a cause that's close to my heart.
I decided to make my first race the Give the Gift of Life Walk/Run because a dear friend of mine has already had two kidney transplants in her short life and continues to inspire me every single day. Megan from The Jelly Bean Exchange is my inspiration for registering for this race. Here is her story...
On March 9th, 2011 I received my second kidney transplant. After a very rough
first year, I am beginning to enjoy the gift of life I have been given. Before
my transplant I was very physically active. As a personal trainer and pilates
instructor I took pride in how fit I was. I am now back on my healthy journey
working towards my "pre-transplant" athletic abilities.
I am using the
Give the Gift of Life to accomplish two goals:
1) I get an opportunity to
raise money for a cause that is very close to my heart/kidney
2) I am using
the 5k. as my fitness motivation for over the summer. My plan is to run
it!
By sponsoring me, you will help me to accomplish my fitness goals as
I begin to truly enjoy the gift of life I have been given (twice!)
If Megan can run this race, I can too! You can sponsor me online by visiting the Kidney Foundation of Canada's Give the Gift of Life Walk/Run page. Every penny counts and I am extremely grateful for anyone who can make a contribution!
